Custodian 2 (Night Shift)

This position is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the LSU Student Union facility. In accordance with University Policy Statement 18, this position is considered essential and may be required to report or stay on campus in the event of an emergency or closure. Due to the nature of the position and/or position responsibilities this position shall be subject to drug/alcohol testing in accordance with University Policy Statement 67.

Cleans lobbies, bathrooms, hallways, meeting rooms, billiards area, and administrative area of the union by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, dusting, and polishing. Mixes or blends cleaning solutions to proper concentrations as necessary - 30%

Responsible for set-ups and break downs associated with daily events in meeting rooms, lobbies, ballrooms, and exterior grounds - 25%

Cleans, strips, waxes and polishes floors using industrial size mops and commercial type floor machines. Fills commercial floor machines with cleaning solutions of proper concentration, empties unused solution into appropriate container - 20%

Cleans floor machines and checks and recharges batteries. Washes, rinses and dries industrial size wet mops, dust mops, and commercial floor pads. Operates wet dry vacuuming carpet extraction equipment and other commercial equipment as requires for cleaning and shampooing carpets - 10%

Empties (exterior and interior ) trash and recycling containers, transports waste material to outdoor refuse containers or recycling containers as needed. Cleans, decontaminates, and deodorizes waste containers using proper materials according to label directions - 10%

Performs other duties as may be assigned by Building Services supervisors, Managers, or other administrative personnel within the department - 5%

Six months of experience in custodial, housekeeping, grounds keeping, or food service work.
