The Senior Maintenance Technician installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs industrial equipment and automated systems to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This role performs preventive and corrective maintenance, supports equipment upgrades and commissioning, documents work in maintenance systems, and partners with cross-functional teams to minimize downtime and sustain production. 

You Will: 

  • Perform, document, and continuously improve preventive maintenance (PM) and predictive/condition-based tasks on industrial equipment and automated systems. 
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair industrial controls and automation systems (PLCs, robots, vision systems, drives/VFDs, sensors, and safety circuits); make program or parameter changes as qualified/authorized. 
  • Install and commission controls/automation components and equipment modifications as needed. 
  • Read and interpret engineered drawings, electrical schematics, mechanical prints, CAD-based drawings, SOPs/BOMs, and technical documentation; follow instructions precisely. 
  • Support installation, commissioning, and modification of equipment and systems; integrate new equipment into standard work and maintenance plans. 
  • Conduct tests to evaluate performance of automated systems and verify repairs/changes. 
  • Develop and implement modifications to equipment and automated systems to improve safety, quality, reliability, and throughput (continuous improvement). 
  • Complete root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective/preventive actions; generate clear maintenance and incident reports. 
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation in CMMS/equipment monitoring systems. 
  • Coordinate with planners, operators, engineering, and other partners to prioritize work and communicate equipment status, risks, and completion timelines. 
  • Help plan and adjust work schedules and priorities to meet production and repair requirements. 
  • Maintain tools, parts, and spares processes (minimum stock levels, lead times, staging/returns) to support timely repairs. 
  • Direct and/or coordinate contractors and vendors to complete work safely, effectively, and cost-efficiently. 
  • Mentor and train other technicians as needed; contribute to training materials and standard work. 
  • Work closely with operations and other teams to provide technical expertise and support production needs. 
  • Understand and support process compliance within assigned areas of operation. 
  • Use general PC applications to communicate, analyze issues, and document work. 
  • Comply with and actively enforce all safety rules, risk controls, lockout/tagout requirements, and PPE standards. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

You Bring: 

  • High School Diploma or GED required. 
  • Trade school, apprenticeship, or journeyman credentials preferred. 
  • 4+ years of industrial/manufacturing maintenance experience (or equivalent combination of training and experience). 
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial equipment including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. 
  • Ability to read and interpret engineered drawings, electrical schematics, mechanical prints, SOPs/BOMs, and technical documentation. 
  • Working knowledge of industrial automation/controls (PLCs, robots, sensors, drives/VFDs, vision systems) and safe troubleshooting practices. 
  • Strong problem-solving/troubleshooting skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions. 
  • Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Proficiency with CMMS/equipment monitoring systems and general PC applications. 
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including overtime/weekends as required. 
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role as outlined below. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience troubleshooting automated manufacturing equipment such as robots, conveyors, tooling, and related production systems. 
  • Experience with PLC platforms (e.g., Rockwell Studio 5000, Siemens) and related logic platforms (e.g., BMS), including advanced troubleshooting; programming experience preferred. 
  • Robotics experience (e.g., Fanuc), including robot programming and troubleshooting. 
  • Vision systems experience (e.g., Cognex, Fanuc iRVision) preferred. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot and configure drives/VFDs, servos, and motion control systems. 
  • Hands-on experience with equipment installation, commissioning, and modifications. 
  • Fabrication skills such as welding, milling/machining, and pipefitting. 
  • Experience in complex or high-volume manufacturing environments. 
  • Knowledge of cranes/hoists and related support equipment operations, as applicable. 
  • Completion of relevant PLC/robotics coursework or equivalent experience. 

 

Essential Physical Requirements 

  • Standing and Walking: Ability to stand and walk for 8–12 hours per shift on hard surfaces in an industrial environment. 
  • Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands for handling tools, assembling components, and operating machinery; requires fine motor skills and grip strength. 
  • Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items up to 50 lbs. regularly; occasional lifting up to 75 lbs. with assistance. 
  • Reaching and Bending: Routine reaching above shoulders, bending, twisting, and squatting as part of assigned tasks. 
  • Repetitive Motions: Continuous arm, hand, and wrist movements for tasks such as fastening, positioning, and installing. 
  • Climbing: Occasional use of steps/ladders to access elevated areas, as required. 
  • PPE Expectations: Must wear required PPE (safety shoes, gloves, protective sleeves, eye and hearing protection) per company safety standards.
