About the Role

We’re seeking an experienced Interface Manager to support a large, complex, heavy-civil rail infrastructure program. This role is responsible for establishing, implementing, and managing a formal Interface Management Plan, including the governance, processes, and tools required to identify, track, and resolve all technical and organizational interfaces across engineering, procurement, and construction activities. This position operates within multi-contract programs involving significant discipline integration and high-risk interface environments (e.g., tunneling, major utility coordination, or systems integration), requiring coordination across contractors, stakeholders, and technical teams to ensure alignment, minimize risk, and support efficient project execution.

This is a long-term, full-time, hybrid position (three days per week in office) position located in the greater San Francisco Bay Area, CA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or systems engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10+ years' experience with interface management roles in large, complex rail infrastructure programs.
  • Experience developing and implementing an interface management plan, interface register, or equivalent structured process on a program with concurrent contracts.
  • Experience performing interdisciplinary design review across civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical scopes, including spatial coordination, clearance, access, and maintainability.
  • Experience with underground and tunneled construction, including the interfaces between tunnel and station structures and the mechanical, electrical, and ventilation systems they house.
  • Experience coordinating concurrent design and construction contracts, including interface-driven change, schedule, and risk impacts.
  • Working knowledge of how civil and structural work interfaces with supporting systems on transit, rail, or other complex infrastructure, including ventilation, power, trackwork, fire life safety, and communications.
  • Experience with industry standard project / construction management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, Unifier, Kahua, etc.).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite/Office 365 (e.g., Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Master's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or systems engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) (International Council on Systems Engineering), or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (Project Management Institute).
  • Experience carrying interface requirements through testing, commissioning, and turnover to verified closure.
  • Experience coordinating interfaces with operating agencies, utility owners, and third parties in a dense urban environment.
  • Experience with interface, requirements, or issue management platforms (e.g., IBM DOORS, Jama Connect, Coordinate, etc.).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Power BI, Oracle Cloud Analytics, or other dashboard KPI reporting software.

What We Offer

Expected Salary: $190k-$260k/year ($91-$125/hour). Luster provides the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might offer for this position based on the successful candidate’s level and years of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, education, certifications, licenses, geographic location, etc. Luster reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range depending on circumstances not related to any status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
