Registered Nurse

Maranatha Christian Academy (MCA) is a private school serving Grades Pre-kindergarten through 12 in Brooklyn Park, MN. Our vision is for every Maranatha student to be highly educated, Christ-centered, and biblically anchored world changers. MCA has an immediate opening for a part-time Registered Nurse. This position may grow into a full-time role. 

Summary   

Provide school health services for students in kindergarten through grade 12 by assessing health needs, providing first aid and emergency care, administering authorized medications and treatments, developing student health plans, maintaining required records, timely and effective communication with parents and staff, and collaborating with families and staff to promote student safety and well-being.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

• Establish a comprehensive plan to serve students in K through 12th grade. 

• Administers medication and/or special health care treatment as directed by physicians and authorized by parents/guardians. 
• Assist administration in managing the school’s intervention plan (chemical dependency, eating disorders, etc.). 

• Reviews health status of students, performs first aid, emergency care, and other illness interventions. 

• Develops individual health or emergency plans for students with special needs. 

• Maintains health records of all students, including immunization reporting

• Assist in the management and refinement of the School’s Intervention Plan. 
• Oversees the school’s emergency response team 
• Responsible for inventory and ordering of supplies 
• Assesses the health and developmental status of students through school health screening programs and facilitates referrals to appropriate health care providers when needed. 

• Prevents and controls communicable disease through health education, assessment, exclusion & readmission decisions, and implementation of applicable immunization requirements. 

• Participates in student support meetings, contributing relevant health information to IEPs, accommodation plans, & any other student plans as needed. 

• Excuses & readmits students for health reasons in accordance with school procedures and applicable public health guidance. 

• Completes student accident or incident reports when medical attention is required or an injury results in lost school time. 

• Trains and provides direction to staff who assist with delegated health services, emergency response, or student-specific health procedures. 

• Documents health office visits, assessment findings, medication administration, parent contacts, and student release information accurately and promptly.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience                    

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university program. Minimum of two years experience as an RN. Experience in pediatrics, school nursing, and/or public health nursing preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations  

Possess a current license as a registered nurse in the State of Minnesota, current CEUs required to maintain licensure. Current CPR certification required.
