We're seeking a Staff Accountant to prepare and maintain financial records to track organization assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.
Pay: $65,000-$75,000 DOE
Responsibilities
~2 min readAs a Staff Accountant, you will support the accounting and finance function through accurate financial reporting, reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable activities, budgeting, tax reporting, fixed asset management, and month-end close activities. You will work closely with other departments and provide financial information and analysis as requested.
- →Ensure adherence to accounting, finance, and payroll department quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.
- →Communicate with other departments and divisions of the Company in support of overall goals and objectives.
- →Respond to inquiries and provide data analysis as requested by various departments.
- →Participate in and support accounting close cycles, including reconciliations and ad hoc analysis.
- →Code invoices, establish new accounts, reconcile accounts, and assist with closing the monthly books.
- →Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets and prepare periodic reports comparing budgeted costs to actual costs.
- →Verify and/or complete payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensure payments are charged to appropriate accounts.
- →Reconcile bank accounts at least monthly, verify deposits, and address inquiries from banks.
- →Reconcile cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manage accounts receivable collections.
- →Support internal and external audit procedures and practices.
- →Work with the Purchasing department to ensure accuracy in posting dates and codes.
- →Manage fixed assets, including accumulation of costs for CAPEX projects and monthly depreciation.
- →Oversee special projects as directed by the Controller and/or Chief Financial Officer.
- →Assist in maintaining and monitoring systems of internal controls that verify the integrity of systems, processes, and data.
- →File tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
- →Coordinate with software vendors to maintain accounting software systems and recommend updates to enhance accounting functionality.
- →Maintain knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
- →Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with 2+ years of related experience preferred.
- Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
- Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Ability to correctly prepare tax reports.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software and accounting software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Most work is performed in an office environment.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 15 pounds infrequently.
- May be required to climb stairs and ladders.
