Asset Management: The Engineering and Asset Management department keeps our fleet safe, reliable and cost-effective. The team plans and manages vessel maintenance, shipyard repair and drydock projects, and major capital investments across the fleet. We work closely with operations, vessel crews and shipyards, and we use maintenance and cost data to decide how to maintain, repair and upgrade our vessels. The intern will analyze maintenance and repair cost history for a class of towboats to evaluate the lifecycle cost of propulsion equipment, then present findings and recommendations to senior management.     Principal Responsibilities: Compile repair history and costs for propulsion drives, engines and generators across the fleet from the work-order system. Compare repair cost, downtime and fuel use across vessels and equipment types. Work alongside the engineering team and shipyard project managers on active repair projects. Clean and standardize maintenance data to improve data quality and reporting. Build a return-on-investment analysis to support an upcoming capital decision. Assist with project work such as scoping repairs, reviewing shipyard quotes and invoices, and tracking schedule and cost. Visit vessels to see how equipment is used day to day. Other special projects and tasks as assigned.     Qualifications:  Currently seeking a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or related fields.  Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and filters. Strong communication skills (written and verbal). Self-motivated and able to take ownership of a project with minimal day-to-day direction. Comfortable asking questions, seeking out information and following through independently. Detail-oriented and analytical minded. Able to work on vessels and in shipyards while wearing required PPE, including climbing ladders and working in tight spaces, at heights and outdoors.     Why Join Us? Gain hands-on experience in marine engineering and shipyard project management within the inland marine industry. A chance to present your work to senior management. Networking opportunities throughout the Company and with other summer interns. Inclusive and diverse culture.     This is a paid summer internship opportunity located onsite in Paducah, KY, with internship dates ranging from June 1, 2027 to early August 2027 (can be flexible on dates).
