Job Summary:

This position is accountable to provide occupational therapy services to patients, including assessment, treatment, program planning and implementation, related documentation, communication with other disciplines and services, and staff supervision as agreed. Staff may care for all age groups from infants to elderly and is aware of the developmental needs over the age span and the appropriate equipment for all ages. This position must demonstrate a commitment of quality service to our patients, the public and our co-workers. Therapists will be accountable for their actions and strive to exceed customer expectations.

Responsibilities

→Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy program.
→NBCOT examination passed.
→Current Virginia State licensure required
→AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire
→Professional competency as a general practitioner as defined by the American Occupational Therapy Association.

Qualifications for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) Team Leader:

→Must have a successful performance appraisal and a strong commitment to the organization.
→Must have a minimum of two years of clinical PM&R experience.
→Must be team oriented with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
→Must demonstrate strong multi-tasking, facilitation, resolution and time management skills.
→Must be a full-time associate (.9 or higher).
→Must exhibit exemplary customer service and a positive attitude.

Those practicing as an OT – License applicant must meet the requirements as follows:
Be a graduate of an accredited occupational therapy education program within in the last six months
This designation shall not be used beyond six months of graduation or by OT applicants that have received a failing score on any examination required by the Board for licensure.
Work under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.

Physical Requirements: Constant (67-100% of workday) walking, standing, use of arms and hands; frequent (34-66% of workday) bending, stooping, kneeling, and squatting; ability to lift 35 lbs.; ability to push and pull 20 lbs.; auditory and visual skills to include color determination; ability to work in confined spaces; ability to reach above/overhead.

Mental Requirements: Possesses critical thinking and analytical skills. Ability to multi-task. Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team. Capacity to cope with difficult situations. Ability to tolerate irregular hours including evenings, nights, and weekends.

Environmental Requirements and Exposure Hazards: Potential risk of exposure to radiation and toxic chemicals. Potential for exposure to bloodborne pathogens; must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

*Clinical positions in Mary Washington Home Health and/or Hospice must also meet driving requirements.
