Occupational Therapists

Seeking occupational therapist candidates to provide integrated educational based therapy services for students with varying disabilities, birth to 21 years of age. Applicants must have at a minimum, a Bachelor's degree and hold or be eligible for licensure as an occupational therapist from the Maryland State Board of Examiners.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

Plans and implements occupational therapy program and activities providing service for students and indirect service for other service providers including parents/and other caretakers.

CERTIFICATE LICENSE:
Possession of a current (or temporary) Maryland license as an occupational therapist as defined by the Maryland State Board of Occupational Therapy Practice.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
Working knowledge of the basic principles of occupational therapy and of human behavior norms, abnormalities and deficits; the application of occupational therapy principles and practices as these apply to handicapped children, laws and bylaws covering the education of handicapped children and the education system of the state.Ability to treat children and relate the program to that of other services providers with inthe educational setting and the home.Skill in oral and written communication. Excellent human relations skills.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE:
Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university including or supplemented by successful completion of a course in occupational therapy accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the American Medical Association, in collaboration with the American Occupational Therapy Association.Additional instruction in sensory integration. P.L. 94142, Maryland Bylaw 130401, and the role of the occupational therapist in the public school is recommended.Experience working in a pediatric facility is desirable.
