POSITION DUTIES
The main purpose of the position is to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Commission and to ensure that the agency's seven operational units function with maximum efficiency. This position is also responsible for the oversight of the agency's Managing for Results (MFR) initiatives and developing ongoing strategies to ensure that MFR goals and objectives are achieved. It coordinates with the Office the Attorney General all matters pertaining to litigation filed against the Commission as well as matters that require legal review and/or interpretation.\r\n\r\n\r\nAs the lead administrator for the Maryland Parole Commission, this position oversees the day-to-day operations and ensures that the Commission's seven operational units function with maximum efficiency. This position is also responsible for the oversight of the agency's Managing For Results (MFR) initiatives and developing ongoing strategies to ensure that MFR goals and objectives are achieved. This position coordinates with the Office of the Attorney General on all matters pertaining to litigation filed against the Commission as well as matters that require legal review and/or interpretation. This position also:\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Assists the Chairperson with the overall management of the Commission that includes eighty employees; serves as designated Appointing Authority for agency in the absence of Chairperson; monitors the agency budget in conjunction with the Chairperson, develops, articulates and disseminates agency policy; evaluates staffing needs and reassigns personnel; sets performance standards for Commission units; reviews performance evaluations and imposes progressive discipline when appropriate.�\r\n Meets regularly with managers of the Commission units to ensure that agency goals and objectives are being achieved; ensures policies are reviewed and updated as necessary; reviews and assesses unit productivity and makes recommendations and/or determines what action is to be taken to improve unit productivity; trains and educates staff on new initiatives; implements new programs or procedures when necessary. undefined�\r\n Manages, directs, supervises and evaluates subordinate staff; guides unit managers and staff to maintain a high level of efficiency with respect to operations.\r\n Assists with development and implementation of programs and projects in conjunction with sister agencies; meets regularly with administrators of agencies to address concerns and develop solutions for problems.�\r\n Develops Managing For Results (MFR) goals and objectives and strategies to achieve same; compiles, reviews, assesses and evaluates MFR data and reports, findings/recommendations to Departmental liaison.�\r\n �Coordinates litigation with Office of Attorney General and seeks legal advice on cases requiring resolutions; prepares the agency's Annual Report; responds to inquiries from Maryland judiciary, Office of the Attorney General, State's Attorneys, social agencies and programs, inmates and attorneys concerning parole-related or case specific issues.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Please read all requirements before applying.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nEducation:�Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology or Political Science.\r\n\r\n\r\nExperience:�Three (3) years’ experience working for Corrections or a Criminal Justice related agency with two (2) years supervising or managing others.\r\n\r\n

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s).
