POSITION DUTIES

The Education Employment Specialist (EES) will have direct contact with incarcerated and recently released students to develop Employment and Education Plans. The position coordinates with appropriate correctional� institution staff, collateral agencies, and community-based organizations to advocate for participant resources and services and to disseminate information. The position requires frequent work inside of correctional facilities and frequent meetings connecting with community based organizations. This position compiles and interprets participant data by keeping detailed records relating to Higher Education and Occupational training programs in prisons, which is a reporting requirement for the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) Grant and DPSCS Education and Employment project.��\r\n\r\n\r\nDirect Service Delivery & Client Support\r\n\r\n\r\n Identify resources that address individual needs such as personal strengths, conflict resolution, self-esteem enhancements, life skills, daily decision-making, and other prison-to-community life stability and developmental skills.\r\n Meet with appropriate institution staff, collateral agencies, and CBOs advocating for participant resources and services and disseminating information.\r\n Provide post-release follow-up and wrap-around services.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nData Collection & Compliance\r\n\r\n \r\n Compile statistical data by keeping detailed records relating to Higher Education and Occupational training programs as a reporting requirement for the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) Grant and DPSCS Education and Employment project.\r\n \r\n Frequent use of computer technology and software for data retention and tracking.\r\n Work with students on a learning management system to support student success.\r\n Work with DPSCS administrative staff to complete Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual reports.� ��\r\n\r\n�\r\nProgram Development & Oversight\r\n\r\n\r\n Assist in the creation of marketing tools, implementation of policies and procedures, and modification of services provided.\r\n Ensures program and grant compliance.�\r\n Identify and monitor potential at-risk participants.\r\n\r\n\r\n�\r\nOrganization & Management\r\n\r\n\r\n Coordinate and oversee student and community engagement.�\r\n Provide support services to the Director of Education with administrative duties connected to the new program.�\r\n\r\n\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Please read all requirements before applying.\r\nEducation:� Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. \r\nExperience:�One year of administrative staff or professional work. \r\nNotes:\r\n1. Candidates may substitute 30�college credit hours from an accredited college or university for�the required experience.\r\n2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included�regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required�experience.\r\n

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants�who possess the following preferred qualification(s).�Include clear and specific information on your application regarding�your qualifications.\r\n\r\n \r\n An Associate's of Arts or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.\r\n \r\n Experience working in a correctional setting or with returning citizens.�\r\n One (1) year of experience in education-related services, community service, social service, or human relations.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.�The use of a personal vehicle may be necessary in the event a government vehicle is not available for appointments and/or fieldwork.\r\n\r\n

BENEFITS

\r\nContractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.\r\nLeave may be granted to a contractual employee at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.\r\n\r\n
