Main Purpose of Job

The Natural\r\nResources Planner I is an entry-level position primarily responsible for providing\r\ngeneral and technical support for the Air Monitoring Program within the Air and\r\nRadiation Administration. This position maintains a network of pollution\r\nmonitoring equipment to assess the health of the State’s ambient air resources,\r\nengaging in compliance and research projects of moderate complexity. Work for\r\nthis role is divided between the lab at the Maryland Department of the\r\nEnvironment Headquarters (Montgomery Park North Building) and various field\r\nlocations.\r\nKey\r\nresponsibilities, but not limited to:\r\n\r\n Equipment Operation: Operate and\r\n maintain continuous and non-continuous ambient air monitoring equipment,\r\n including analyzers for particulate matter, ozone, sulfur dioxide, carbon\r\n monoxide, and nitrogen dioxide, along with their respective calibration systems.\r\n Documentation: Prepare hard-copy\r\n instrument logs and electronic data summaries for review by QA staff and\r\n Field Operation supervisors.\r\n Maintenance: Perform regular\r\n repairs and maintenance on air monitoring shelters, site property, and\r\n inlet/climate control systems.\r\n\r\nThe\r\nincumbent in this position will be required to drive a State vehicle.\r\n\r\n Driver’s License:�A valid\r\n driver’s license with no more than five points is required to operate a\r\n State vehicle.\r\n Out-of-State Licenses:�If you\r\n hold an out-of-state license, you must provide a certified copy of your\r\n driving record from the appropriate Motor Vehicle Administration at the\r\n time of appointment.\r\n\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants\r\nmust satisfy the minimum qualifications to be considered for this position and\r\nmove forward in the hiring process. �Please read all requirements before\r\napplying.\r\nEducation:�� A Bachelor’s degree from an\r\naccredited college or university in an environmental science or natural\r\nresources planning, management or development.\r\nExperience: None.\r\nNotes:\r\n1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor’s\r\ndegree from an accredited college or university in urban or regional\r\nplanning, engineering, physical geography, or the physical, chemical,\r\nbiological sciences and one year of experience in natural resources planning or\r\napplied environmental science for the required education.\r\n2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces\r\nmilitary service experience as a commissioned officer in the general\r\nnatural resources management and biological sciences classifications or\r\ngeneral natural resources management and biological sciences specialty codes in\r\nthe general natural resources management and biological sciences field of work\r\non a year-for-year basis for the required education.��\r\n\r\n\r\n�\r\n

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Please note that your answers to the\r\nsupplemental questionnaire must correspond to the information provided on your\r\napplication to receive credit.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Hands-on\r\n experience or knowledge of the operation, maintenance, calibration, and\r\n troubleshooting of continuous and manual-based air monitoring instrumentation\r\n specific to PM, CO, NOx, SO2, O3, and the calibration systems for these methods.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Knowledge and/or experience with state or federal regulations pertaining to instrument sampling and\r\n operation quality control procedures.\r\n\r\n\r\n Knowledge and/or experience�with evaluating diagnostic information from air monitoring data acquisition\r\n systems, including pollutant concentrations and instrument operational\r\n parameters such as voltages, flow rates, PMT output, and temperatures.\r\n\r\n\r\n Hands-on experience or knowledge of operating, maintaining, and\r\n troubleshooting HVAC systems, electrical installations/repairs, computer\r\n hardware installation/repair, or using hand and power tools.\r\n\r\n\r\n�\r\n\r\n\r\n
