Main Purpose of Job

This position provides addiction counseling services in a\r\nmaximum-security forensic hospital, Clifton T. Perkins Hospital Center. This includes\r\ntreatment of patients and assessment of patients, to include the use of empirically\r\nsupported addictions treatment procedures and interventions. Individuals hospitalized\r\ninclude persons charged with serious violent felonies (e.g., murder, arson, sexual\r\noffenses, etc.) and patients referred from prisons, detention centers, courts, and other\r\nmental health facilities not able to effectively treat them due to the level of violence,\r\nbehavioral disturbance, or risk of escape.\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:� �Determined by\r\nthe Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the\r\nrequirements for Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselors or Certified\r\nProfessional Counselors-Alcohol and Drug on or before September 30, 2008.\r\n\r\n\r\nExperience:�Determined by the\r\nMaryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the\r\nrequirements for Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselors or Certified\r\nProfessional Counselors-Alcohol and Drug on or before September 30, 2008.��\r\n\r\n\r\n

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess experience working with the SMI population.\r\n

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1.�In accordance with Health Occupations Title 17 and Code of Maryland Regulations 10.58.07, candidates\r\nplaced in this classification must be�licensed by the Board of\r\nProfessional Counselors and Therapists as a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug\r\nCounselor or as a Certified Professional Counselor-Alcohol and Drug on or\r\nbefore September 30, 2008.\r\n\r\n\r\n2.�Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor\r\nvehicle.� Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a\r\nmotor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.����\r\n\r\n\r\n

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code\r\nof Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.\r\n\r\n
