Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to supervise the Eligibility Policy Unit for Non-MAGI Medicaid policy. This includes inquiries into Medicaid policies, responding to customer inquiries on behalf of MDH for both Non-MAGI and MAGI cases, assigning and tracking specific advanced casework activities (such as Pre and Post-Medical Expenses, PEMEs), waivers for special circumstances in Medicaid cases, overdue Human Services cases, liaison with the MDH Office of the Inspector General for fraud and overpayment cases, and liaison with the Office of the Attorney General for appeals and high level customer complaints, as well as incoming general inquiries about Medicaid that need to be referred to the appropriate office.\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:�Eight years of administrative or professional experience developing or applying policies and regulations in medical assistance, health insurance, federal or State entitlement programs.�One year of this experience must have been in a medical assistance program.\r\nNotes:\r\n1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and four years of administrative or professional experience developing or applying policies and regulations in medical�assistance, health insurance, federal or State entitlement�programs for the required experience.� One year of this experience must have been in a medical assistance program.\r\n2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in the related�field of work for the required experience.\r\n3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Operational�Analysis classifications or Health Services Management specialty codes in the health-related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.\r\n

The desired candidate should possess the following:\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Advanced knowledge of Medicaid Eligibility rules and regulatory interpretation\r\n Exceptional written communication skills�\r\n High level analytical and critical thinking skills\r\n\r\n\r\n

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.\r\n
