Main Purpose of Job

Our program provides a unique opportunity to gain educational and\r\npractical experience, under the purview of public sector treasury experts, in\r\nthe areas of business, finance, insurance, banking, investment, debt\r\nmanagement, and information technology. We promise a specialized learning\r\nexperience and skill development that promotes growth in your future career.\r\nThe State Treasurer’s Office has internship possibilities in\r\nthe following divisions:\r\n�\r\nBudget and Accounting: Provides daily\r\nfiscal support for agency operations and financial administration for statewide\r\nprograms controlled by the State Treasurer .\r\n�\r\nInformation Technology: Provides\r\ntechnical support for Microsoft based operating systems as well as specialized agency\r\nportal services and financial platforms; implements technical projects to\r\ntransition and streamline legacy processes to modernized platforms.\r\n�\r\nMaryland 529: Manages two statewide\r\ntax-sheltered programs for college savings and saving accounts for people with\r\ndisabilities. \r\n�\r\nDebt Management: Oversees State debt\r\nissuance and payment, develops low-cost funding strategies and leasing\r\nresources, and orchestrates sales of municipal bonds.\r\n�\r\nOperations and Administration: Coordinates\r\nand oversees mission critical responsibilities, procedures, systems, and\r\nprocurements necessary to carry out the agency’s statutory obligations. \r\n�\r\nTreasury Management: Comprised of Banking\r\nand Investment units, Treasury Management controls the State’s banking relationships\r\nand services, manages the State’s cash flow, and invests State funds to meet\r\nthe State’s financial needs.\r\n�\r\nInsurance: �Directs the State’s Insurance Program which is\r\ncomprised of both self-insurance and commercial policies, and manages claims\r\nand litigation under the Maryland Tort Claims Act.\r\n�\r\nExecutive: Provides executive level\r\nsupport for the Treasurer’s various responsibilities including public and\r\nlegislative policy, boards and commissions, and other Constitutional or\r\nStatutory duties.\r\nOur internship program is where talent meets opportunity.
