Pay Rate: $55.05/hr. - $79.83/hr.

Position Summary

Assists supervisor in the operation of a Hematology laboratory by performing specialized tasks necessary to keep department in regulatory compliance as well as day-to-day operation to provide quality and timely results to provide a timely patient care.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

Performs procedures which include calibrating of instruments, assessing accuracy of equipment, determining accuracy of tests, ensuring they are reproducible; responsible for quality control.

Reads test results and examines and interprets outcome to identify departures from "norms." Activities may include hematological, biochemical, serological and microbiologic tests, as well as preparing/dispensing blood products.

Performs pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic assessments to ensure accurate and reliable results according to policies and procedures.

Responsibilities include simple maintenance and adjustment of equipment and making up more difficult reagents.

Assists in training and orientation of new laboratory personnel and students.

Directs non-licensed laboratory personnel in accordance with current State of California business and professional code.

Performs specialized tasks and/or advanced decision making for the section.

Assists in Quality Control (QC) and Proficiency Testing

The Technical Specialist may function as Lead or primary resource/subject matter expert for the technical division assigned.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Minimum Requirements

Qualifications/Work Experience:

3-5 years working experience in area of expertise.

Excellent organization, communication, and people skills required.

Education/Licensure/Certification:

Bachelor’s degree in a science discipline.

Clinical Laboratory Scientist's License by the State of California required.
