Role Summary

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Information and Technology uses Technology Business Management (TBM) to improve IT cost transparency, strengthen financial management, and support better technology investment decisions.

As an Alteryx Data Analytics Consultant, you will play an important role in supporting the VA TBM team by transforming complex financial and operational data into reliable, repeatable processes that support informed decision-making. You will develop and maintain Alteryx workflows, support monthly financial processing and cost-model updates, improve data quality, and help automate and streamline recurring data operations.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Develop, maintain, optimize, and troubleshoot Alteryx ETL workflows supporting VA TBM financial and operational data.

  • Support monthly financial processing and TBM model updates by validating data inputs and outputs, investigating exceptions, and coordinating data loads with the TBM model team.

  • Maintain data mappings, integrate new data sources, and improve automated data intake processes in collaboration with Financial Data Management stakeholders.

  • Analyze data completeness, quality, and reporting gaps and support reconciliation of processed data to source financial records and reporting totals.

  • Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency, reliability, and repeatability of recurring ETL and data-processing activities.

  • Create and maintain clear workflow documentation, validation procedures, and processing guidance to support monthly operations and effective team handoffs.

  • Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to translate data issues and requirements into practical solutions.

What We Need From You (Required)

  • 3+ years of experience in data analytics, data management, ETL, or a related field.

  • Hands-on experience developing, maintaining, or troubleshooting Alteryx workflows.

  • Experience cleansing, transforming, joining, mapping, and validating financial or operational data from multiple sources.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to investigate data-quality issues and reconcile discrepancies.

  • Ability to clearly document technical processes and communicate findings to both technical teams and business stakeholders.

  • Bachelor’s degree.

What Sets You Apart (Preferred)

  • Experience supporting federal financial data, IT financial management, or IT cost analysis, particularly within the VA or another federal agency.

  • Familiarity with Technology Business Management (TBM) concepts, taxonomy, cost allocation, and financial reconciliation.

  • Experience improving recurring ETL automation or integrating new financial and operational data sources.

  • Experience with Apptio or other TBM platforms.

  • Certified TBM Executive (CTBME) certification.
