Salary Information
\r\n\r\nCompensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range shown on the announcement reflects the starting salary range for the assigned pay grade. Progression beyond the posted range occurs in accordance with established compensation policies.\r\n**A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and Montgomery Personnel Board Rules & Regulations**\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Nature of Work
The fundamental reason this classification exists is to enforce revenue and licensing laws and regulations. Work involves inspecting business premises within an assigned location to ensure compliance and promptly identify violations. The work responsibilities include thoroughly examining and verifying revenue and license receipts from businesses operating in Montgomery. Incumbents in this position must exercise tact and decisive judgment to ensure public cooperation and compliance while adhering to established policies and procedures. Work is performed under the immediate supervision of the Revenue Compliance Officer and/or Revenue Manager.\r\n
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years\r\nof delinquent account tax collection work.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nNOTE: �Qualifying education, training\r\nand experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities to\r\nperform the job will be considered.\r\n\r\n

SPECIAL\r\nREQUIREMENTS: Must have and maintain a valid Alabama\r\nDriver’s License and an insurable driving record in order to�drive City and/or personal\r\nvehicles.� Must be available to work\r\nflexible hours, which include nights, days, holidays and weekends.�\r\n\r\n\r\nWORKING\r\nCONDITIONS: Work is\r\nperformed primarily in the field, which involves traveling to local business\r\nlocations. This may require working in inclement weather, visiting construction\r\nsites, climbing stairs, and walking over rough terrain. There may be minimal\r\nlifting of items such as boxed documents, laptops, printers, and similar items.\r\nOccasional travel outside of Montgomery and the State of Alabama may be\r\nnecessary, including work occurring outside of regular business hours.\r\n\r\n\r\n
Kind of Examination
Applications are being accepted to fill one (1) vacancy and any vacancies that may occur during the life of the register. The current vacancy is with the City of Montgomery License & Revenue Department.��Applicants will be screened and qualified based upon education and experience as shown on the application and supplemental questionnaire.� For this reason, applicants are urged to fill in the application form and supplemental questionnaire completely providing detailed information concerning the kinds of jobs they have held, the dates they held them, where and exactly what their duties were. If more than five qualified applications are received, a selection test will used to rank applicants on the register.� Tied scores will not be broken.
