General Manager – Precision Machining | Material Supply (Oil Field Equipments)

Our client is a UAE-based engineering and manufacturing group operating one of the largest and longest-running machine shops and fabrication facilities in the region, with extensive experience in precision machining and specialised steel fabrication for industrial clients. The Engineering Division provides high-precision components and engineered solutions across sectors such as oil and gas, energy, construction, marine, and heavy industry, with strong capability in machining complex shapes in advanced materials.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Own and deliver the division strategy, including market positioning, customer focus, and product/service mix.
- →Full P&L ownership – budgeting, forecasting, pricing, cost control, and margin improvement.
- →Lead and expand material supply operations:
- →Sourcing engineered components, raw materials, and consumables
- →Vendor qualification and negotiations
- →Ensuring competitive landed cost, quality, and delivery performance
- →Oversee machining and fabrication operations (CNC machining, complex components, specialised steel parts) with a focus on quality, throughput, and efficiency.
- →Develop and implement sales and business development plans to win new projects and frame agreements with key accounts.
- →Drive continuous improvement in production planning, capacity utilisation, lead time reduction, and on-time delivery.
- →Build, mentor, and retain a capable operations, sales, and technical team; set KPIs and performance management routines.
- →Ensure compliance with relevant certifications, quality systems, HSE standards, and customer-specific requirements.
- →Report to senior leadership on performance, risks, opportunities, and capex needs.
- 15+ years' experience in engineering / manufacturing / industrial services, with at least 5–7 years in a leadership role (Plant Manager, Division Head, GM, BU Head or similar).
- Proven exposure to material supply and machining / machine shop environments; experience with precision components, specialised steel, or heavy engineering is preferred.
- Experience in UAE/GCC or comparable emerging industrial markets; familiarity with project-based and contract-based customers (oil & gas, energy, marine, heavy industry, construction) is advantageous.
- Strong commercial acumen: pricing, contract negotiation, pipeline management, and customer relationship development.
- Solid understanding of operations in machining/fabrication, including capacity planning, quality, maintenance, and production workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to design and execute strategy.
- Strong leadership, team-building, and stakeholder management skills; comfortable operating in a mid-sized, entrepreneurial environment.
- Data-driven and KPI-oriented, with a track record of improving profitability and operational metrics.
