DMTS ITP AI Architecture and Delivery

The Distinguished Member of Technical Staff (DMTS) for ITP (Innovation, Technology and Products) AI is one of the company's important distinguished technical leadership positions, accountable for turning ITP's AI priorities into production-grade solutions that accelerate technology development, silicon design, product development, and engineering execution across ITP. This role is central to Micron's mission to make AI foundational to how ITP innovates and develops technology and products, amplifying its people and unlocking durable competitive advantage through solutions that are deployed, adopted, and delivering value. 

Position Summary  

The ITP AI DMTS is a hands-on technical architect and execution leader in Artificial Intelligence. This individual will work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) across ITP to understand engineering workflows and pain points, translate those needs into practical AI architectures, and work alongside implementation teams seeing through to production deployment. The role directly advances ITP's goal to redesign engineering from specification to qualification, enabling more design IDs, faster execution, and first-pass qualification with best-in-class quality. 

The DMTS will be accountable alongside implementation teams for delivery of outcomes, partnering directly with internal customers to ensure solutions are adopted and deliver measurable business impact, including ITP's broader goal of significantly faster time-to-market. Success in this role will be measured primarily by the number of AI systems successfully rolled out into production and the business value they deliver. The individual will drive disciplined execution against quarterly objectives while bringing applied innovation to every solution, ensuring Micron continues to lead in how AI is used across engineering. 

Key Responsibilities  

Architecture and Execution 

• Partner with SMEs across ITP to understand engineering workflows, data, and constraints, and translate them into scalable, implementable AI architectures. 

• Define technical designs, solution blueprints, and implementation plans that move AI use cases from concept to production. 

• Lead hands-on technical execution, including architecture reviews, build decisions, integration, and deployment readiness. 

• Establish reusable architecture patterns, platforms, and standards that accelerate delivery across ITP. 

• Translate the ITP AI roadmap into concrete quarterly deliverables with clear milestones, owners, and success criteria. 

• Identify and manage technical risks, dependencies, and trade-offs to keep programs on schedule. 

Customer Partnership and Production Delivery 

• Own delivery of AI outcomes end to end, from requirements through production rollout and adoption. 

• Work closely with internal customers across technology development, silicon design, product engineering, and manufacturing to prioritize the use cases with the highest business impact. 

• Drive the rollout of production AI systems, ensuring quality, reliability, scalability, security, and supportability. 

• Partner with cross-functional engineering and IT teams to integrate AI solutions into existing tools, data, and workflows. 

• Track and report adoption, performance, and business impact of deployed solutions, including improvements in velocity, quality, and cost. 

• Continuously improve deployed systems based on customer feedback and operational data. 

Applied Innovation 

• Drive innovation that becomes deployable capability, applying advances in GenAI, agentic AI, machine learning, scientific AI, and semiconductor-focused AI to real ITP problems. 

• Rapidly prototype and evaluate new approaches, scaling those that prove value into production. 

• Bring emerging AI technologies and industry practices into ITP where they can measurably improve engineering outcomes. 

Technical Leadership and Influence  

• Drive disciplined execution against objectives set each quarter, translating the ITP AI roadmap into measurable, quarter-over-quarter results. 

• Serve as a trusted technical advisor to ITP leaders on AI architecture, delivery priorities, and investment trade-offs. 

• Lead cross-functional teams through complex technical challenges requiring exceptional expertise and creativity.  

• Mentor senior technical staff, principal engineers, architects, and engineers  

• Build and strengthen Micron's AI technical community and talent pipeline.  

How Success Is Measured 

• Number of AI systems rolled out into production across ITP. 

• Customer adoption and sustained usage of deployed solutions. 

• Measurable business impact, including faster time-to-market, improved quality, and engineering productivity gains. 

• Delivery against quarterly objectives and committed milestones. 

• Innovation output, including new IP and novel solutions that reach deployment. 

Minimum Qualifications  

• MS or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related field.  

• 15+ years of experience in advanced AI research, AI platform development, machine learning, semiconductor or related technical domains.  

• Demonstrated record of technical innovation translated into production systems with measurable business impact. 

• Deep expertise in multiple AI disciplines, such as Generative AI, agentic AI, machine learning, deep learning, LLMs, AI infrastructure, scientific AI, reinforcement learning, and AI safety and governance.  

• Significant experience architecting, building, and deploying large-scale AI or software systems into production. 

• Exceptional communication and executive influencing skills.  

• Proven ability to drive technical outcomes across organizational boundaries without direct authority.  

Preferred Qualifications  

• Expertise in AI with a good record of publications, patents, open-source contributions, or industry recognition.  

• Experience applying AI within semiconductor technology, EDA, manufacturing, product development, scientific computing, or high-performance computing environments.  

• Demonstrated success creating and scaling enterprise AI platforms and capabilities.  

• Experience leading AI transformation efforts within global organizations.  

• History of mentoring senior technical talent and developing future technical leaders.  

• Distinguished engineer experience, or equivalent technical leadership accomplishments.
