As an AI Engineering Intern, you will design, develop, and support AI-enabled software solutions that address real-world business challenges across Micron. You will work on full stack applications, AI agents, LLM integrations, and modern software systems while gaining hands-on experience with production-grade AI technologies, cloud-native architectures, and AI-assisted software development practices.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and support AI-enabled software applications using modern programming languages, web technologies, databases, APIs, and cloud-based architectures.
- Build and integrate AI capabilities such as large language models (LLMs), AI agents, retrieval systems, and intelligent automation solutions into enterprise applications.
- Collaborate with engineers, product owners, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools, automation frameworks, and modern engineering practices to improve software quality, productivity, and delivery efficiency.
- Research, evaluate, and prototype emerging AI technologies while contributing to software documentation, testing, continuous improvement, and operational excellence initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
- 0-2 years of relevant experience through internships, research projects, coursework, academic projects, hackathons, or software development experience in artificial intelligence, software engineering, data science, or related technical fields.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical field.
- Expected graduation date of September 2027 or later.
- Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming concepts.
- Experience with at least one programming language such as Python, C#, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, or similar technologies.
- Familiarity with relational and/or NoSQL database technologies.
- Understanding of software architecture principles and modern application development practices.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Demonstrated experience using AI-enabled tools and large language models (LLMs) such as Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or similar technologies to improve productivity, software development, learning, and problem-solving.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of large language models (LLMs), AI agents, generative AI, and modern AI application architectures.
- Familiarity with prompt engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases, embeddings, Model Context Protocol (MCP), and agentic workflows.
- Basic understanding of machine learning concepts, including model training, inference, supervised learning, and unsupervised learning.
- Experience with AI-assisted software development tools, coding assistants, or intelligent automation technologies.
- Experience building web applications using modern full stack frameworks and development practices.
- Familiarity with REST APIs, cloud platforms, containerization technologies, DevOps tools, or CI/CD methodologies.
- Experience using source control systems such as Git and participating in collaborative software development workflows.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts effectively.
- Demonstrated curiosity, initiative, and passion for learning emerging AI technologies and solving complex technical challenges.
