Volunteer Services Manager

Hi, we're the Mid-Ohio Food Collective. Yes, we’re a foodbank and collect and distribute an impressive amount of food, but that’s not all. We’re also a group of passionate individuals dedicated to exploring new ideas to tackle tough social issues from food insecurity to poverty to health as a whole. So when life happens, we're here for our neighbors that need us.

The Volunteer Services Manager advances our mission by building and leading volunteer programs that create meaningful impact across Mid-Ohio Food Collective’s operations. This role ensures volunteers and community partners are engaged, prepared, and supported—so service experiences are effective, safe, and aligned with organizational goals.

Key responsibilities include:
- Lead, supervise, and develop staff and/or team leads supporting volunteer engagement
- Oversee multiple volunteer programs, group experiences, and community-facing initiatives; set priorities and ensure consistent execution
- Strengthen relationships with partners and volunteers; represent MOFC through presentations and clear communication
- Track outcomes, evaluate program performance, and implement process improvements using volunteer-management systems and databases
- Apply sound judgment to navigate complex or sensitive situations while maintaining accountability for results

Required qualifications/skills:
- 3–5 years in volunteer management, program coordination, community engagement, event/nonprofit operations, or related work
- Experience supervising employees and/or leading others
- Strong organization, problem-solving, communication, and technology skills (Microsoft Office and volunteer platforms)

You’ll start by reviewing the volunteer calendar, attendance trends, and any open questions from partners or internal teams, then align the day’s priorities with your staff through brief check-ins. Much of your time is spent connecting—confirming group details, preparing clear communications, and ensuring volunteers have the right information to contribute to community impact.

As the day unfolds, you move between planning and problem-solving: updating systems, reviewing metrics, and documenting improvements that strengthen consistency across programs. When sensitive situations arise, you respond with discretion and steady judgment, keeping the experience respectful and mission-aligned. You may also step into public-facing moments—sharing MOFC’s work with diverse audiences and reinforcing a service environment where people can make a difference.
