Manufacturing & ProductionProduction Quality Engineer

Wind power is growing, in every sense of the word. Modvion designs and develops a patented modular wind turbine tower made of laminated wood, engineered to reach higher altitudes and unlock wind resources previously out of reach. Laminated wood, nature’s carbon fibre, enables efficient logistics for tall towers while substantially cutting the carbon footprint of wind power.

We are scaling up towards series production, and a first-time-right culture is central to getting there.

As Production Quality Engineer, you drive quality control in Modvion’s in-house manufacturing and in the on-site construction of the Modvion tower system. You own the operational quality toolbox: production control plans, inspection and test plans, incoming material and supplier control, product release and shop-floor non-conformity handling.

You work within the Modvion Management System (MMS), in line with ISO 9001:2015 and APQP4Wind, and partner closely with Production, Engineering, Procurement and the Quality Manager to prevent defects and build process capability. You provide the independent quality sign-off of manufactured and delivered components.

You have the authority to place material, components and products on hold, to stop further processing or delivery when quality requirements are not met, and to release products only when all inspection and test requirements are fulfilled.

Responsibilities

  • →

Lead production quality planning for new and changed products and processes: process flow diagrams, PFMEA, Production Control Plans and Inspection & Test Plans

  • →

Define inspection methods, sampling plans and acceptance criteria for quality-critical operations such as bonding/gluing, machining, assembly, surface treatment and bolted connections, and coordinate first article inspection (FAI) and production part release (PPAP)

  • →

Take part in incoming inspection and material release for raw materials and purchased components such as engineered wood/LVL, adhesives, steel parts, fasteners and coatings, including verification of material certificates

  • →

Support supplier selection and qualification, drive supplier PPAP for critical components, perform supplier audits or source inspections, and manage supplier non-conformities (SCAR/8D)

  • →

Plan, perform and supervise in-process and final inspections, coordinate hold and witness points with customers, turbine OEMs and third-party inspectors, and compile the quality dossier for each delivered module and tower

  • →

Ensure that factory production control (FPC) requirements for product certification and national approvals are fulfilled in daily operations, and support third-party surveillance inspections

  • →

Ensure control of measuring equipment, and identification, status marking and traceability of materials, parts and modules, with nonconforming products segregated and controlled

  • →

Handle production, construction and supplier non-conformities through containment, root cause analysis (8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa) and CAPA follow-up, and monitor quality KPIs such as first-pass yield, non-conformity rate and cost of poor quality

  • →

Define and follow up quality controls for transport, site assembly and erection, including site inspection plans, bolt tightening records and handover documentation

  • →

Train and qualify operators and inspectors, and act as point of contact on production quality for customers, turbine OEMs, third-party inspectors and certification bodies

You are structured, thorough and hands-on, with the integrity and independence to hold the line on product release. You collaborate and influence on the shop floor and with suppliers, and you want to help build a first-time-right culture as Modvion scales up.

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering (e.g. mechanical, manufacturing, materials/wood technology or quality engineering) or equivalent qualification

  • 3 to 5 years’ experience of quality control or quality engineering in a manufacturing environment, preferably within wind power, construction products, engineered wood, composites or heavy structures

  • Hands-on experience of APQP/PPAP (APQP4Wind, AIAG or VDA), PFMEA and control plans

  • Solid knowledge of ISO 9001:2015

  • Experience of incoming inspection, supplier quality management and review of material certificates

  • Proficient in structured problem solving and quality tools such as 8D, root cause analysis, SPC and MSA

  • Able to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and standards

  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, in Swedish and English

  • Driving licence (B) and willingness to travel to suppliers and construction sites

  • Knowledge of factory production control for CE-marked or certified construction products

  • Lean/Six Sigma training

  • Knowledge of adhesive bonding

  • Auditor training

We look forward to hearing from you!
