The Shift Leader for the Sanitation Division is responsible for coordinating and directing daily sanitation activities to ensure effective execution of cleaning schedules across the feedmill. The role ensures compliance with sanitation procedures, GMP, HACCP requirements and operational standards while supervising sanitation personnel and supporting safe work practices.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Allocate daily work assignments to sanitation team members.
- Coordinate cleaning schedules and work priorities.
- Monitor completion of sanitation activities during shift operations.
- Ensure all designated areas are cleaned according to established standards.
- Supervise and direct sanitation personnel during shift operations.
- Conduct shift briefings and communicate priorities.
- Monitor attendance, punctuality and work performance.
- Provide coaching and on-the-job guidance.
- Ensure cleaning of:
- Production areas
- Staircases and access routes
- Railings and elevated platforms
- Silos
- Conveyors
- Bucket elevators
- Pelletizing areas
- Bagging areas
- Feed transfer systems
- Dust accumulation points
- Ensure sanitation activities comply with HACCP requirements.
- Verify completion of sanitation logs and checklists.
- Escalate non-conformances and sanitation risks.
- Ensure correct chemical usage and storage where applicable.
- Support inspections and audits.
- Ensure proper PPE usage.
- Verify adherence to work-at-height procedures.
- Monitor housekeeping standards.
- Ensure safe execution of dry and wet-cleaning activities.
- Support lockout and isolation procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
- Certification/training in HACCP, food/feed safety or sanitation would be an asset.
- Minimum 2–3 years industrial sanitation experience.
- Prior leadership experience preferred.
