~1 min readOur client is a well established Canadian precision manufacturer with over four decades of pedigree producing flight and safety critical components for the aerospace, defence and nuclear sectors from their advanced manufacturing facility in the Greater Toronto Area. They are hiring a CMM Programmer into a programming team of six, split between CNC and CMM programmers. Client name is shared with shortlisted candidates under confidentiality.
Responsibilities
~2 min readReporting to the Quality Applications Specialist, you will generate, verify, document and issue CMM inspection programs for complex machined parts going into aerospace and nuclear applications. You will own program standardisation and optimisation, write the set up instructions, lead First Article Inspection, and train other inspection operators. You will also run the CMM yourself and carry out advanced manual inspection. Tolerances sit around plus or minus 0.001 to 0.002 inches.
- →Generate standardized, efficient inspection programs for all CMM and programmable inspection equipment
- →Maintain the CMM Program Procedure including revision control, verification of program outputs, and approving and issuing programs to production
- →Create programs for both in process and final inspection requirements, and offline from part models
- →Lead First Article Inspection processes, data collection and archiving, and act as the subject matter expert on FAI
- →Participate with engineering in inspection control planning, including recommending manual and non CMM inspection
- →Review blueprints and specifications to establish inspection criteria aligned to the Quality Assurance Manual
- →Participate in data collection from both CMM and other inspection devices
- →Research evolving inspection technologies to upgrade or complement CMM inspection
- →Establish best practices while meeting customer specific requirements
- →Liaise with maintenance and vendor partners to keep CMM equipment and accessories calibrated and maintained
- →Train other inspection operators and apply best practice programming and inspection techniques
Requirements
~1 min read- 5+ years direct experience inspecting machined parts to tight tolerances
- 5+ years in CMM programming, including familiarity with gear and spline programming
- PC-DMIS or Calypso experience, at minimum hands on with one of them
- Strong knowledge of close tolerance machining processes
- Strong skills in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, statistics and data analysis
- Capable with manual inspection tools including micrometers, calipers, shadow graphs, mold impressions and digital height gauges
- Experience in configuration control, MS Excel and set up documentation
- Working knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001 and CSA Z299, and familiarity with ISO 9102, AS9103 and AS13003
- Grade 12 minimum, post secondary certificate in a related field preferred
- Able to work in Canada and currently resident in Canada
- Willing to work overtime including weekends when required
Nice to Have

- On the job training certification
- Ability to read, interpret and create sketches and drawings
