About the Role

An established precision machining company in the Greater Toronto Area, producing components for aerospace and nuclear customers, is hiring experienced CNC Machinists. Multiple openings across both the aerospace and nuclear sides of the business, and the team is hiring now.

Responsibilities

~1 min read

You will set up and run CNC lathes, mills and mill-turn machines to produce precision parts to print. You work from blueprints and job orders, dial in your own tooling, speeds and feeds, inspect your own work, and flag anything out of tolerance before it moves. This is a hands on machining seat for someone who already knows their way around a control and wants steady, skilled work.

  • Set up, operate and maintain CNC lathes, milling machines and mill-turn machines
  • Read blueprints and job orders for dimensions, tolerances, tooling, feeds, speeds, depth of cut and sequence of operations
  • Select tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, inserts and fixtures for the job
  • Verify dimensions using micrometers, verniers, calipers, height gauges and optical comparators
  • Report deviations from specification and tolerance, and support quality control
  • Troubleshoot machining and quality issues with supervisors, engineers and production control
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance and keep the work area clean and FOD compliant
  • Cross train on other CNC equipment to build multiple skills

Requirements

~1 min read
  • 5 to 7 years of hands on CNC machining experience, this is not a junior role
  • Strong CNC lathe experience, mill-turn is a strong asset
  • Confident reading drawings and specifications with a good understanding of GD and T
  • Experience with at least two different CNC controls, for example Mazatrol, Fanuc or Siemens
  • Available for afternoon shift, 4:30 PM to approximately 1:00 AM, after a day shift training period
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work on site full time in the Greater Toronto Area

Nice to Have

~1 min read
  • Aerospace, nuclear or other regulated precision manufacturing background
  • Machinist certificate or apprenticeship
  • Willingness to work overtime and occasional weekends

Full time permanent hourly role with a competitive rate, overtime paid after 40 hours, RRSP match, medical benefits after the qualifying period and on site parking. New hires train on day shift, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, for the first two to three months before moving to the afternoon shift, so you learn the parts and the processes properly before running independently.
