The Facility & Equipment Manager is responsible for the day‑to‑day operation, maintenance, and upkeep of an advanced engineering and manufacturing facility.
This role owns the availability, reliability, and safety of both the facility and its production equipment—ranging from precision CNC machinery and industrial additive manufacturing systems to cleanroom HVAC and core building infrastructure.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Own and manage the preventive maintenance program for all manufacturing and laboratory equipment, including CNC machines, EDM systems, metal additive manufacturing equipment and powder handling systems, industrial robotics, welding equipment, and test instrumentation
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system faults in‑house, coordinating with OEMs or specialized service providers when required
- Manage daily facility operations, including building systems such as HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, compressed air, gas supply, lighting, and fire suppression systems
- Perform hands‑on electrical and plumbing repairs and minor modifications; coordinate with licensed contractors for permitted or specialized work
- Maintain cleanroom environmental controls, ensuring compliance with temperature, humidity, particulate, and pressure requirements
- Maintain lockout/tagout procedures, machine guarding, PPE requirements, and emergency response equipment
- Conduct regular safety inspections, drive corrective actions, and support audits
Qualifications include:
- Licensed trade certification (Industrial Electrician, Millwright, Plumber) is a strong asset
- 5+ years of experience in facility and/or industrial equipment maintenance within manufacturing, aerospace, defence, automotive, or similarly equipment‑intensive environments
- Proven hands‑on ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
- Practical experience maintaining CNC machines, EDM equipment, industrial robotics, welding systems, or additive manufacturing equipment (experience across multiple equipment types strongly preferred)
- Experience developing and managing preventive maintenance programs, including scheduling, documentation, and spare parts management
