- →Post secondary education in a chemistry related field, preferably completed two years Industrial Laboratory Technologist Course from a recognized institution.
- →Preferably a minimum of one year related laboratory experience.
- →Understanding of refinery process sample terminology.
- →Working knowledge of at least one computer system (WINDOWS).
- →Understanding of basic instrumental methods of analysis including Atomic Absorption, ICP-OES, Flame Photometry, pH meters, UV/Visible Spectrophotometer, X-RAY Fluorescence, FTNIR etc.
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills while managing multiple demands.
- Carry out all analysis/test procedures required for process control, shipping samples, environmental samples, mine samples, basic water analysis and other samples as required.
- Use lab computer system to update and maintain daily analysis data files.
- Operate analysis equipment and perform routine calibrations and adjustments.
- Calibrate basic analysis equipment.
- Prepare routine standard solutions.
- Assist in adapting present lab procedures to fit new requirements as required.
- Maintain all required laboratory statistics and records.
- Understand and apply SDS information.
- Recognize and identify discrepancies in analysis and procedures, and resolve these if appropriate.
- Work day, afternoon and night shift as required or on a rotating basis.
- Work effectively with a minimum amount of supervision in the Laboratory at K1 and K2.
- Diligently adhere to all relevant legal environmental requirements.
- Diligently ensure that all relevant OH&S requirements and in-house safety regulations are complied with.
