Position Summary:
The Labor Relations Assistant provides administrative and clerical support to the hospital’s Labor Relations team. This entry-level position assists with scheduling meetings, maintaining records, and providing customer service to staff and union representatives. The role ensures the smooth daily operation of labor relations activities within a large, unionized hospital system.
- Serve as the first point of contact for the Labor Relations office by answering phones, responding to inquiries, and directing calls or visitors appropriately.
- Schedule grievance hearings, labor-management meetings, and arbitration sessions; coordinate meeting logistics, collects supporting evidence from management, reviews, redacts patient identifiers and prepares materials.
- Maintain organized filing systems—both electronic and paper files—for contracts, grievances, and labor documentation.
- Assist in tracking grievance and disciplinary actions under the guidance of Labor Relations staff.
- Prepare routine correspondence, meeting notes, and reports as directed.
- Update tracking spreadsheets, contact lists, and department calendars. Tracks employee, corporate compliance complaints, documents follow up and close out of investigation outcome.
- Support Labor Relations staff with preparing packets for negotiations and maintaining document confidentiality.
- Coordinate messenger and mail services for time-sensitive labor relations materials.
- Perform general office duties including photocopying, scanning, data entry, and inventory of office supplies.
Assists with investigation of employee issues.
- Familiar with provisions of the collective bargaining agreements and provides direction as required.
- Collects and manipulates data to generate various reports
- Completes assigned Labor Relations projects, as needed, such as year-end data reports.
- Occasional travel between hospital campuses may be required.
Requirements
~1 min read- Associate’s degree or some college coursework in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Bachelor’s degree highly preferred.
- 1–2 years of clerical or office support experience; experience in a hospital or unionized setting a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with HR or case management systems preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

The salary range for the role is $17.29 - $25.94 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need.
