Laboratory Technician C - Immunogenetics/HLA Laboratory - Mount Sinai Hospital - Full Time/Evenings (3pm - 11pm incl wknds & hol)

Handle all internal and external customer contacts regarding Reference Laboratory Testing. Receives, resolves and communicates outcome of complex issues. Act as liaison between internal and external reference laboratory vendors.

1. Collect, prepare and package specimens for Reference Laboratory vendors adhering to defined guidelines

2. Generate reports to track all specimens for Reference Laboratory vendors.

3. Responsible for resolving interface exception logs and ensuring exceptions are resolved in an efficient manner.

4. Assist supervisor in obtaining information on new and/or complex reference tests.

5. Assist supervisor in issuing revised reports as necessary.

6. Troubleshoot reference laboratory issues and notify supervisor of potential problems.

7. Order and keep inventory of supplies needed to process specimen for reference laboratory vendors.

8. Sort, file and store requisition slips for reference laboratory vendors.

9. Sort, file, store and dump extra specimens for reference laboratory vendors.

10. Keep temperature log of refrigerators and freezers used to store specimens.

11. Keep a clean and safe work environment

12. Any other duties assigned by supervisor

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 3-5 years clinical laboratory experience required.
• None if minimum education is Associate Degree or higher in Science.
