Under general supervision of Director of Service or Ophthalmologist, supervises the acquisition of screening photos and imaging in our facility, oversees the quality of photography done, and performs and is responsible for monthly photographic quality metrics. In addition, is responsible for overseeing, mentoring and working with techs at QHC if needed. Is responsible for maintaining imaging standards. Responsible for the photography if done with RetCam at QHC, and for ROP examinations at QHC and facilitating follow up. Job requires providing technical assistance during delivery of patient care. Coordinates ongoing training, orientation, and in-service programs according to clinic policy and individual needs. Duties include overseeing clinical and equipment maintenance responsibilities, coordinating with IT and Security for imaging issues if needed.
- Overseeing Ophthalmic Techs and Photographers at Queens Hospital and orienting new employees.
- Performs instrument calibration, troubleshooting and maintenance of testing equipment in accordance with manufacturer or other guidelines. Maintains equipment in safe and working condition. Reports defects or deficiencies for adjustment and/or repair.
- Responsible for maintaining quality imaging standards in Ophthalmology Clinic.
- May be responsible for overseeing certification process of photographers or ophthalmic techs
- Training of the PCAs in Primary Care Clinic in the facility for the HHC Diabetic Telemedicine Program
- Oversees and Maintaining quality standards of photography by PCAs
- Monitoring quantity and quality of photography and preparation of monthly metrics
- Troubleshooting of nonmydriatic cameras
- Taking photos with RetCam in NICU if needed, interacting with MD and nursing, coordinating care and follow up appointment
- Coordinates with IT and Security for imaging when needed
-HS/GED, COA (preferred not required if experienced)
-Minimum 5 years as Ophthalmic Photographer and Technician, facility with ROP exams,1 year experience with organizational forms.
-COA preferred not required if experienced
-Excellent technical skills. Well organized, works as a team player, and manages others well.
-Bilingual preferred (Spanish, Hindi, Bengali preferred as second language)
-Good interpersonal manner and communication skills important during patient testing and care in order to ensure harmonious provision of ophthalmological services. Works with Nursing and Clerical to coordinate patient care and services.

The salary range for the role is $65,885.00 - $98,827.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need.
