The Research Program Coordinator will play a critical role in supporting the HOPE and Growing HOPE programs, which focus on advancing reproductive, maternal, and child health through community-based doula care in NYC.
This role will support research design, coordination, data collection, and dissemination activities while also assisting with outreach, partnership coordination, and the implementation of community-centered programming. This position focuses on hands-on coordination, facilitation, and research responsibilities by bridging research, program implementation, and community engagement. The coordinator will report directly to the Senior Program Manager and work closely with the research team to ensure high-quality implementation of the study in accordance with IRB and institutional standards.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mission-driven, and committed to health equity, with experience in public health research and a strong interest in community-based, participatory approaches. This position is part-time with the possibility of transitioning to full-time and will continue as long as extramural funding is available.
- Research Coordination & Implementation
- Support the design and execution of community-based participatory action research, implementation science research, and cohort studies related to reproductive, maternal, and child health.
- Assist in developing study protocols, consent forms, data collection tools, and research documentation.
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative data collection, including participant recruitment, screening, consent, enrollment, and follow-up. Conduct surveys inperson and virtually, and complete chart reviews in EPIC electronic health record.
- Support data management activities including data entry, cleaning, verification, and organization using systems such as REDCap.
- Assist with qualitative and quantitative data analysis and documentation of findings using programs such as SAS and Dedoose.
- Complete and maintain IRB and regulatory applications, renewals, and compliance documentation.
- Track study progress and maintain accurate research records per institutional and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to the preparation of reports, manuscripts, presentations, and dissemination materials.
- Program & Administrative Support
- Assist with day-to-day coordination of research and program activities, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met.
- Provide administrative support to the Program Manager and Principal Investigator, including assistance with maintaining organized program documentation systems.
- Maintain secure and regularly updated databases of program and research materials.
- Community Engagement & Partnership Support
- Coordinate communication with community partners, doulas, CHWs, shelters, and healthcare stakeholders to support collaboration.
- Assist in organizing and implementing workshops, listening sessions, forums, and learning events for participants and partners.
- Support culturally relevant group-based sessions in trusted community spaces, focusing on pregnancy, postpartum care, and resource navigation.
- Help prepare communication materials to keep partners informed of program updates and opportunities.
- Support dissemination of research findings in accessible, community-facing formats.
- Quality Improvement & Monitoring
- Assist in tracking program and outreach metrics (e.g., event participation, referrals, partner engagement).
- Support identification of gaps or areas for improvement in program processes and contribute to solution development.
- Document lessons learned and share insights with program leadership to enhance program effectiveness.
Master's degree in public health, global health, or relevant degree with some experience in research administration preferred OR Bachelor's degree in public health, global health, or relevant degree plus 3 years of progressive research experience with some experience in research administration preferred
Minimum 3 years of experience in public health research coordination or study implementation
Experience working with justice-involved or housing-insecure populations preferred
Familiarity with Queens, NYC community context strongly preferred
