VP & Chief Nursing Informatics Officer (CNIO) (Health System Vice President) 

The Mount Sinai Health System is looking for a Vice President & Chief Nursing Informatics Officer (CNIO) to serve as the health system’s senior nursing technology & innovation executive, leading the enterprise-wide strategy for nursing innovation, emerging technology, and care model transformation.   Reporting jointly to the Chief Nurse Executive and Chief Information Officer, the CNIO works in partnership with the Executive Nurse Cabinet and broader Digital and Technology Partners, Health informatics teams. 

• Lead the health system-wide nursing informatics and innovation portfolio and team of clinical and nurse informaticists and specialists, setting vision, priorities, and outcomes for nursing innovation across all hospital campuses and ambulatory sites.

• Determine strategy and lead implementation of various solutions within the innovation units across the health system.

• Lead the optimization of clinical systems, nursing documentation, decision support, workflow standardization, and technology-enabled nursing practice transformation.

• Incorporate nursing research and evidence-based nursing knowledge into nursing practice, ensuring new technologies and care models are grounded in science and professional practice standards.

• Create communications strategy and cross-organizational vision for nursing innovation in concert with the overall nursing and health system strategy.

• Understand the impact of regulatory and policy changes on nursing practice, including AI governance, and interpret and evangelize them across the enterprise.

• Develop the nursing innovation strategies related to the evaluation, procurement, implementation, scaling, and optimization of emerging technologies, including AI, virtual care, ambient documentation, and automation.

• Combine knowledge of patient care, innovation and informatics concepts, and change management to effectively address the information and knowledge needs of healthcare professionals and patients to promote safe, effective and efficient use of emerging technology in clinical settings.

• Act as a change agent in the identification, development, planning, implementation and value measurement of innovation strategies to support quality patient care, professional practice, and workforce experience.

• Work with clinical, IT, and digital leaders to ensure the adoption and effectiveness of technologies and workflows to positively impact clinical outcomes, burnout reduction, and value realization. 

• Collaborate with nurse executives and operational leaders in planning and implementing program expansion and growth, including new business ventures, care model redesign, construction, and strategic projects.

• Serve as the executive nursing leader for emerging technology, representing the health system in strategic partnerships, academic collaborations, industry forums, and enterprise governance councils.

• Serve as a member of the Executive Nurse Cabinet, partnering with Chief Nursing Officers and Vice Presidents of Nursing across the health system to identify, prioritize, and advance nursing innovation and informatics initiatives at the system and local levels. Establish mechanisms to share best practices, scale successful innovations, and align local priorities with the enterprise nursing strategy.

• Develop technology-enabled workforce transformation strategies that improve workforce sustainability, care-team effectiveness, and patient outcomes.

• Experience with Epic EMR (preferred but not required)

• Over 7 years of progressive leadership roles within healthcare, including executive-level experience in nursing informatics, digital health, or clinical innovation 
• Experience implementing AI-enabled clinical workflows
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure; MSN or Masters in Informatics required
• DNP or PhD in Nursing, Informatics, or related field strongly preferred
• Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills

Compensation Statement:

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $315,000.00 – 415,000.00 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
