Standard Job Description
The Senior Field Engineer (Simulator Technician) will support the Combat Rescue Helicopter (CRH) Training Systems program at Patrick Space Force Base, providing advanced-level maintenance, troubleshooting, and sustainment of Operational Flight Trainer (OFTT) and Avionics Desktop Trainers (AVDTTs), along with associated subsystems.

Standard Duties:

Perform advanced troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance on CRH training devices, specifically WSTs and AVDTTs, including hardware, software, and networked systems.
Lead fault isolation and root cause analysis across simulator subsystems (visuals, avionics, IOS, computing environments, and network infrastructure).
Support installation, integration, and verification of software updates (e.g., OFP load upgrades) and hardware modifications.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation of maintenance actions in accordance with AFTO Form 781 series and program requirements.
Analyze system performance data (MTBF, failure trends) and implement corrective actions to improve system reliability and availability.
Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and on-the-job training to junior field engineers and technicians.
Coordinate with engineering, logistics, cybersecurity, and program management teams to resolve complex system issues.
Support Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) events, system certifications, and customer demonstrations.
Maintain compliance with all applicable technical orders, cybersecurity requirements, and safety standards.

Basic Qualifications
Minimum of 5–8 years of experience in simulator maintenance, avionics, IT systems, or related technical field.
Active CompTIA Security+ certification is required and must be held at time of hire.
Strong troubleshooting experience across electrical, electronic, and computer-based systems.
Demonstrated hands-on experience with IT/computer systems, including Windows and/or Linux environments, system administration fundamentals, and basic networking.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and technical orders.
Experience using test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and signal analyzers.
Familiarity with maintenance documentation systems and data tracking (e.g., AFTO forms, maintenance logs).
Desired Skills
Experience supporting military flight simulators or training systems (WST, AVDTT, or similar platforms preferred).
Knowledge of Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) environments.
Experience with software installation, configuration management, and system baselining.
Understanding of cybersecurity practices within DoD environments (STIGs, RMF, etc.).
Experience analyzing system logs, databases, and network performance.

Full-Time Salary Range: $72500.00 - $134600.00
