This is the most advanced level in the Mechanic Job Family. As a journey-level mechanic, this position works independently, may work as the lead within the area and receives limited supervision from the Maintenance Supervisor. This position is highly skilled and autonomously performs diagnoses, inspections and repairs of coaches and other vehicles.

Responsibilities

→Possession of a Mechanic A rating and/or possession of a Regional Transit Certification of ability to diagnose, repair, and overhaul electrical and mechanical systems for coaches, cars, trucks and other support equipment.
→Possession of, or the ability to obtain a Refrigeration Recovery/Containment Certificate Type II (per Federal EPA regulations).
→Possession of a Class B California Driver's License permit with Passenger endorsement on the first day of appointment and the ability to obtain a Class B California Driver's License with Passenger endorsement within 90 days of appointment.
→Satisfactory driving record as determined by SacRT.
→Forklift Operator certification or the ability to obtain a Forklift certificate with 90 days of appointment.
→Obtain all tools required for a Mechanic A by the end of the probationary period. Tool list available with Maintenance management.
