Inst/Ast Professor - Fixed Term

The Department of Communicative Sciences and Disorders (CSD) at Michigan State University is seeking outstanding candidates for anticipated fixed-term (non-tenure stream) faculty positions. These are part-time positions but with the possibility of increasing to full time.

Primary responsibilities will include one or more of the following:

  • Teaching CSD courses either online or on campus
  • Supervision of clinical experiences of CSD master's degree students
  • Supporting clinical placement efforts for CSD masters students
  • Planning and executing departmental activities and events that support CSD students and faculty, including overseeing the efforts of student workers.
  • Other activities that support the overall educational mission of the department as assigned by the chair of the department.

This person will report to the chair of the department. Depending on the combination of responsibilities assigned to this person, they will work closely with the directors of the undergraduate and graduate programs in CSD, including the master's program Director and Clinical Education Coordinator.

  • A master's or Ph.D. This is an open rank posting and selected individuals will be hired at the title that aligns with their highest completed degree.
    • Candidates with a Ph.D. would be hired as Assistant Professor
    • Candidates with a master's degree would be hired as Instructor
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
  • Current license to practice as a speech-language pathologist and/or audiologist in Michigan, or eligibility for obtaining such a license
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience as a speech-language pathologist (SLP) or audiologist
  • Experience supervising SLP Masters students in clinical practicum
  • Knowledge of the professional certification requirements for SLPs
  • Strong organization, communication, and decision-making skills
  • Proficiency in the use of databases and common office and communication applications

The University will assess the information, including any information provided by the candidate, in determining whether the candidate is fit for the position. The University may decline to hire a candidate based on the professional misconduct review. All records obtained from external employers will be kept in a secure location, separate from personnel files. If an applicant fails to sign the authorization and release, the application will be deemed incomplete and will be withdrawn.
