Postdoctoral Scholar-Fixed Term

The Postdoctoral scholar will be co-mentored by Michigan State University PI's Alex Dickson (Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Computational Math, Science and Engineering CMSE), Samik Bose (CMSE) and Andrea Gonzales (Pharmacology and Toxicology) to develop scalable, reproducible free energy workflows that enable easy collaboration between computational and experimental researchers in drug discovery.  The scholar will implement and apply existing models for small molecule generation, discovery and property prediction, and/or develop novel approaches as necessary. 

Detailed description of work/duties:

• Implementation of computational methods and workflows for a variety of tasks relevant to in silico modeling and drug discovery
• Development of tools for molecular visualization, data organization and facilitating communication of results between research teams
• Active collaboration with experimental research groups working in drug discovery
• Communication of results in scientific manuscripts and conferences
• Seeking external funding and building an independent research program

This work was supported in part by the MSU Research Foundation Postdoctoral Scholars Program, Office of Research and Innovation, Michigan State University. This program is aligned with the research priorities of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Doctorate -Chemistry, Computer Science or related field

• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Computer Science or related field.
• Computer programming skills

• Experience developing computational tools for free energy calculation
• Experience developing containerized workflows
• Experience working in a collaborative environment on molecular design projects
