We are seeking a qualified and experienced Primary Homeroom Teacher to teach across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 at a British curriculum school in Baghdad, Iraq. The successful candidate will take full responsibility for a homeroom class, delivering high-quality teaching while supporting pupils academic progress, wellbeing, and personal development.
This role is suited to teachers with strong experience in British schools, who are confident managing a full teaching timetable and maintaining high classroom and safeguarding standards.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- Deliver engaging and well-structured lessons across KS1 and KS2 in line with the British curriculum.
- Teach core primary subjects and adapt teaching to meet a range of learning needs.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment.
- Assess, track, and report on student progress using appropriate assessment strategies.
- Maintain accurate academic records, attendance, and reports.
- Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and school leadership.
- Collaborate with staff to ensure curriculum consistency and progression.
- Participate fully in school meetings, events, and professional development.
- Uphold safeguarding requirements, school policies, and professional conduct standards.
- Patient, adaptable, and resilient.
- Able to explain concepts clearly and in age-appropriate ways.
- Skilled at managing classrooms and creating inclusive learning environments.
- Motivated to inspire and engage children in their learning.
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelors degree in Education or a related field with QTS.
- PGCE with a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) awarded by the Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA).
- Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in a British school.
- Proven experience teaching KS1 and KS2.
- Strong classroom management and organisational skills.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Ability to work effectively within an international and multicultural school environment.
- Previous international experience is advantageous but not essential.
