Nature's Herbs & Wellness is hiring a full-time Lead Budtender for our Log Lane Village dispensary!

This is a working leadership position. Lead Budtenders continue serving customers while taking additional responsibility for supporting the retail team and keeping the store organized during their shifts.

At a smaller location like Log Lane, Leads have an opportunity to know regular customers, develop broad knowledge of the store and help newer employees become stronger Budtenders. We're looking for someone who can provide good customer service while also becoming a reliable resource for the people working around them.

Previous cannabis retail experience is strongly preferred. We will also consider candidates with meaningful supervisory or shift-lead experience in retail, restaurants, hospitality or another customer-facing business who can learn cannabis operations quickly.

• Providing direction to Budtenders and Front Desk employees
• Coordinating breaks, meal periods and customer coverage
• Adjusting priorities as customer traffic changes
• Supporting employees with product, procedure and customer questions
• Helping newer Budtenders develop product knowledge
• Reinforcing established procedures and service standards
• Keeping employees productive during slower periods
• Communicating operational or training issues to management
• Maintaining a clean and organized retail environment

This is hands-on leadership. Leads should be comfortable helping customers, stocking, cleaning or stepping onto a register whenever that's what the store needs.

Lead Budtenders should be among the strongest customer-service and product-knowledge resources in the store.

Responsibilities include:

• Helping customers identify products that fit what they're looking for
• Explaining products and relevant differences clearly
• Helping customers compare products, brands and price points
• Completing transactions accurately
• Maintaining knowledge of products, promotions and loyalty programs
• Resolving escalated customer situations
• Helping Budtenders work through more complicated customer questions
• Helping less-experienced employees find accurate product information

Log Lane serves regular local customers as well as people traveling through the area. Some customers know exactly what they want, while others need more guidance.

A strong Lead knows how to provide both kinds of customers with useful, efficient service.

Depending on the assigned shift, responsibilities may include:

• Preparing and balancing cash drawers
• Reconciling drawers when closing
• Counting and reconciling safe and ATM cash as required
• Tracking cash movement between drawers and the safe
• Recording authorized cash payments and other cash movement
• Resolving POS, pricing and discount issues within company procedures
• Counting and recording employee tips
• Identifying, documenting and reporting discrepancies
• Completing assigned opening and closing procedures

Accuracy and integrity are essential. Lead Budtenders are trusted with company money, cannabis products and regulated transactions.

A smaller store requires versatility.

During busy periods, everyone needs to help customers efficiently. When traffic slows, the team should be stocking, cleaning, organizing, learning products and promotions or completing other store responsibilities.

The Lead helps maintain that rhythm while also helping employees develop the knowledge and habits they need to work more independently.

In a smaller community, you'll also see many customers regularly. Familiarity is valuable for building customer relationships, but friends, neighbors and regular customers still follow the same company procedures and regulatory requirements as everyone else.

Lead Budtenders help ensure company procedures and Colorado cannabis regulations are followed throughout the shift.

We don't expect Leads to know every unusual situation from memory. We do expect them to recognize when something needs to be checked, use available procedures and involve management when appropriate rather than guessing.

Part of being a Lead is also helping newer employees understand those procedures and reinforcing them consistently.

A successful Lead is comfortable working with customers while helping other employees succeed.

Relevant experience and skills include:

Previous cannabis retail experience is strongly preferred.

Relevant backgrounds can include Budtender, Lead Budtender, retail keyholder, shift supervisor, restaurant shift leader, hospitality supervisor or other customer-facing leadership positions.

Experience in a smaller business where employees handle multiple responsibilities can be particularly useful.

You also don't need to make cannabis your entire personality to work here. We're interested in whether customers trust you, coworkers can learn from you and management can depend on you.

This is a full-time position, generally scheduled 30–35 hours per week over approximately five shifts.

Our Log Lane Village dispensary operates seven days a week.

Lead Budtenders need enough schedule flexibility to provide opening and closing coverage, including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays as required.

Occasional overtime may be available or required based on business needs.

Lead Budtenders also receive customer tips.

Tips typically add approximately 4–6 per hour. Actual tips vary based on customer traffic, staffing, shifts worked and other factors and are not guaranteed.

Typical combined earnings are approximately 21–23/hour when base wages and typical tips are combined.

The $17.00 hourly wage is guaranteed. Tip income is variable.

Applicants must be at least 21 years old.

Employees must hold an active Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED) Employee License before beginning regulated cannabis work.

Candidates who already hold an active MED license and have dispensary experience are encouraged to apply. We will also consider experienced retail or service-industry leaders who are eligible and willing to obtain their MED license before beginning regulated work.

Employees are responsible for obtaining, maintaining and paying for their required MED license.

The Lead position is where being good at your own job begins turning into helping other employees become good at theirs.

You'll develop experience with employee coaching, product education, shift coordination, cash controls, opening and closing procedures, customer problem resolution and compliance oversight.
