The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is one of the largest, most complex agencies in the state, and has approximately 17,000 employees. It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence.
This position will be tasked with learning the duties and responsibilities of the Director role. Will meet with Director regularly and begin to attend some Director level meetings. Will review cases and provide teaching and clinical support at 8am morning meeting. Will review documentation and clinical decision making of medical service providers (quality monitoring activities). Will function as a key clinical supervisor of the overall quality of medical care the service is providing.

• Thorough knowledge of the theory, principles, and practices of general, preventive medicine and of the techniques involved
• Ability to assess and interpret laboratory results, clinical data, and information related to the patient’s condition
• Teaching and mentoring skill
• Future leadership potential and administrative interest/skills
This position is Exempt from all provisions of NC General Statute Chapter 126 with the exception of Articles 6 and 7. State Human Resources Act (GS 126)
