The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters!
The Correctional Training Coordinator II is responsible for the coordination, planning, and implementation of courses of instruction for the Department of Adult Correction (DAC) Basic Certified Mandated Training and/or Certified Instructor level training. The selected candidate will be also responsible for the management of three Basic Training Coordinators and their sections.
The position ensures that there is a fair and equitable distribution of training resources for the Basic Training Programs conducted in an overnight setting, and will serve as one of two School Directors for these Basic Training Programs as certified and mandated by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Standards Commission.
**Additional Duties:
May serve as the Criminal Justice School Director and speak on behalf of the agency in dialog with the Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission. May serve as an Instructor for the General Instructor Program. Serves as an Instructor for the Correctional Leadership Development Program. Serve as chairperson for the Basic Training Programs Revision Committee.
Salary Range: $52,592 - $92,036

The Office of Staff Development and Training (OSDT) is the cornerstone of training for the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction workforce. Our team of 101 instructors and support personnel delivers basic training to correction and probation/parole officers, as well as specialized classes, such as firearms, leadership, and instructor training. With our expertise, we manage the delivery of annual in-service training for over 16,000 certified employees.
