The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. This Correctional Housing Unit Manager II (CHUM II) position is located at the DART Center in Goldsboro, NC in the Department of Adult Corrections (DAC) Rehabilitation and Reentry section. This is a 300-bed men’s residential treatment facility responsible for the delivery of chemical dependency treatment services to probationers sent by the courts and parolees released from the State Prison System and transitioning back into the community. Rehabilitation and Reentry Treatment staff plans, administers, and coordinates chemical dependency screening and substance use disorder treatment services within the Department of Adult Correction. This position provides support for and reports directly to the Human Services Program Manager II (Facility Manager) and in collaboration with other designated staff, assumes responsibility for the overall management of the residential housing. This position will serve as a Residential Housing Manager with a pivotal role in the development, review, implementation, and monitoring of all applicable Standard Operating Procedures.

This position is located at Dart Center, Goldsboro, NC.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Supervise daily Substance Abuse Workers and Lead Substance Abuse Workers ensuring proper training, performance, and documentation.
• Provide case management, counseling, and guidance to support resident's needs and adjustment.
• Oversee unit programs, orientations, and monthly resident Town Hall Meetings.
• Conduct daily inspections to maintain safety, security, and cleanliness.
• Prepare reports, investigate incidents, and respond to resident grievances.
• Maintain security procedures, equipment readiness, and schedule unit searches.
• Support committees, policy implementation, hiring interviews, and special assignments.
• Assist with resident movement, visitation, and enforcement of rules.
• Manage unit supplies, equipment needs, and financial responsibilities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education Equivalency Verification
