We encourage you to consider joining NCDOT where our work not only serves the citizens of North Carolina but has an impact on our world through all modes of transportation.
The primary purpose of the Strategic Prioritization Office of Transportation (SPOT) is to manage the prioritization and evaluation of all capital expenditures subject to the Strategic Transportation Investments (STI) legislation for NCDOT, impacting approximately $2.5 Billion per year. This strategic prioritization process must be consistent with the STI legislation, should be consistent with the vision, mission and values of the NCDOT, and must include input from key stakeholder groups (such as Metropolitan (MPOs), Rural (RPOs) Planning Organizations), local government advocacy groups, and many other NCDOT units.
The primary purpose of this position is to perform technical analysis, evaluation, and coordination in support of NCDOT's Strategic Transportation Investments prioritization process for non-highway transportation modes. The position reviews and validates transportation project data, applies established prioritization methodologies, evaluates project information for completeness and consistency, identifies discrepancies requiring resolution, and coordinates with modal partners and project submitters to support accurate and defensible project scoring. The position also provides technical support for prioritization procedures, stakeholder workgroups, and system improvements that support the development of the State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP).
