Responsibilities for the Health Care Technician I/Admissions position include but are not limited to:
• Act as the primary host in welcoming clients to the facility, assist the Nurse
in the Admission Process, orient the patients to the unit, meal and medication
times, their rights, and their responsibilities.
• Manage the milieu on the unit through close observation and interaction with all patients.
• Work closely with patients and have the ability to use Crisis Prevention
Intervention (CPI) approved de-escalation techniques, to ensure the safety of
patients and staff by completing required CPI training.
• Collect lab specimens, assist in emergency procedures under the direction of
an RN and maintain equipment supplies and forms. He/she will assist the
Medical Staff by sitting in on exams as needed. Maintain dietary supplies for the unit.
• Keep client’s rooms free of clutter. Be alert of safety issues and initiate
response as indicated.
• Other duties as delegated by and completed under the supervision of a
Registered Nurse.

High school or General Educational Development diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Condition for Continued Employment
As required, listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation. As applicable, listing as a Nurse Aide II by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. As applicable, North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.
- Applicants seeking Veteran's Preference must attach a DD-214 Member-4 Form (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty) to their application.
- Applicants seeking National Guard Preference must attach an NGB 23A (RPAS), along with the state application if they are a current member of the NC National Guard in good standing.
- Applicants who are former member of either the NC Army National Guard or the NC Air National Guard, with honorable discharge and six years of creditable service, must attach a copy of the DD 256 or NGB 22, along with the state application.
