- Inspect acute hospitals, critical access hospitals, psychiatric hospitals, abortion clinics, ambulatory surgery centers, cardiac rehabilitation centers, and end stage renal disease providers for regulatory conformity.

- Use observations, interviews, and record reviews to prepare deficiency reports documenting non‑compliance with required regulations.

- Review Plans of Correction submitted by providers and assess whether proposed corrective actions adequately address cited deficiencies.

- Intake complaints and concerns from the public and prepare them for investigation.

- Respond to written requests for licensure and certification information from providers, agencies, and the public.

- Provide clarification to providers and prospective providers on licensure and certification requirements and survey processes.

- Participate in meetings with health care associations, civic groups, and professional organizations to communicate program goals.

- Coordinate survey activities throughout the Wake/Central Region, including regular travel to assigned counties.
