Residential Life and Technology Assistant

The CTC offers residential services 24 hours a day, five to seven days a week, 12 months a year. All residential students return home for holidays and scheduled breaks. This position works 2pm-10:30pm, Sunday through Thursday. It serves in a rotation of staff who cover third shift absences when needed. Students participate in classroom instruction during the weekdays and in the evenings they practice skills learned in the classroom in real life settings. The Residential Life and Technology Assistant works collaboratively as part of a team to support individuals in the residential program. Supports include reinforcement of classroom learning regarding assistive technology and daily living skills. Additionally, this position works with the residential life team to ensure safety and security while also allowing students to function as independently as possible within their specific circumstances. Other activities include assisting with recreational activities, orientation to the facility and supporting students who are adapting to change.
This position works under the direct supervision of the Residential Life Coordinator and is expected to work collaboratively as an integral part of the residential services team while also exercising initiative and sound judgment. While this position requires technical knowledge, it requires a mix of both technical and human service skills. Onboarding training on technology used by individuals who are blind, visually impaired or deafblind is available. Division of Services for the Blind also offers an annual training week to CTC staff as well as intermittent trainings on topics essential to providing effective services to the people we serve.
Salary Range: $32,287 - $56,502
Recruitment Range: $32,287 - $50,000

The Knowledge Skills and Abilities/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred.
- Experience working with individuals who are blind or visually impaired.
- Experience working in a residential setting.
- First Aid, CPR and AED certification.
- Familiar with JAWS, Zoom Text, and other assistive technology.
This position is funded in part through federal funds.
This position will close at 11:59 p.m. the night before the end date.

Bachelor's degree in a discipline relative to the program served from an appropriately accredited institution; or Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in an area related to program that provides experience in techniques of casework or counseling; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
