Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Use and operate the various machines and instruments commonly found in an automotive and/or heavy equipment repair shop, as well as a variety of specialized equipment specific to the area of assignment.
• Diagnose and repair various automotive, small engine, and/or heavy equipment systems.
• Manage on-site inventory including parts, fuel, and lubrication commodities.
• Supervision of both skilled and unskilled workers, and coordination of work with various contractors and vendors.

Candidates meet the minimum qualifications of this position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. Vacancy specific knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) and/or management preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following are preferred:
- Demonstrated knowledge of the methods, practices, tools and material used in the general maintenance and repair of vehicles and heavy equipment.
- Demonstrated experience in vehicle routine maintenance and problem diagnosis.
- Demonstrated experience in the repair of vehicles and heavy equipment.
- Demonstrated experience in the operation and care of small engine types of grounds keeping equipment such as lawn mowers, tractors and chainsaws.
To be eligible for a sign-on bonus, the candidate must not have worked as a probationary, permanent, or time-limited employee in the last 12 months as an employee in North Carolina state government, including without limitation the judicial system, state executive branch agencies, and the university system, subject to the State Human Resources Act. Employee eligible for a sign-on must work at least 20 hours per week.

Requirements
~1 min read- Typical work schedule is Monday to Sunday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, must be able to work evenings, holidays, and/or weekends when necessary. This schedule may vary and second shift may be needed.
- Must be able to perform strenuous physical work for extended periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must have the ability to lift up to 100 lbs periodically and 50 lbs consistently with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must be able to perform repetitive tasks and movements associated with trade work.
- Must be able to work outdoors in variable weather conditions throughout the year with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must have a valid driver’s license issued from within the United States or be able to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
- Class A CDL
- CPR Certification
- Emergency Medical Responder Certification
- Certified in S-112 Chainsaw Operations Training - perform hazardous tree assessments and if necessary, tree removal within the park.
May require current certification by the EPA as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by 40 CFR part 82, subpart F.
