We are currently seeking a Boarding Agent to join our Agency team. The Boarding Agent represents the company and acts as the main point of contact between the Master, port authorities, terminals, and other relevant stakeholders during a vessel's port call. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth coordination of all ship-related operations, documentation, and compliance with local and international maritime regulations.
Reporting to the Agency Manager, key accountabilities include:
- Board vessels upon arrival and departure to complete all necessary formalities
- Coordinate and communicate with port authorities, customs, immigration, terminal operators, pilots, tugboats, stevedores, and other service providers
- Handle inward and outward clearance of vessels with the relevant authorities
- Collect and deliver documents, such as cargo manifests, bills of lading, and port clearance documents, between the vessel and local stakeholders
- Ensure that all requirements of the vessel, Master, and crew are met during the port stay (e.g., medical assistance, crew changes, etc.)
- Update the operations team and principals regularly on the vessel’s status
- Monitor the vessel’s operations to prevent delays and additional costs
- Prepare accurate reports and maintain proper documentation for each vessel call
- Attend to emergencies or urgent requirements on a 24/7 on-call basis as per the rotation schedule.
Required qualifications:
- University degree in Maritime Studies, Port Operations, or a related field. Degrees in other disciplines may be considered if supported by relevant professional experience.
- Experience in a similar role within the maritime or shipping industry is considered an asset.
Skills & Competencies:
- Solid understanding of the shipping business, vessel operations, and port procedures.
- Very good reporting skills, with proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Greek and English.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- A proactive team player with a can-do attitude and strong collaboration skills across departments.
- Ability to work independently under pressure and maintain professionalism in demanding situations.
- Customer-oriented mindset with attention to detail and service quality.
