Headquartered in New York City, Newsweek also publishes international editions in EMEA and Asia. 

 

Newsweek is seeking an analytical, hands-on, and detail-oriented Director of Ad Operations to oversee our end-to-end campaign execution and trafficking ecosystem. This role will own campaign trafficking, QA, pacing, troubleshooting, and reporting, while partnering closely with Sales, Account Management, Product, Technology, and Yield teams to support scalable business growth. 

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end trafficking and execution of Direct, PMP, and PG campaigns, including forecasting, setup, targeting, creative, tracking, QA, launch, pacing, and closeout.
  • Manage trafficking across display, video, social, and newsletter campaigns, ensuring accurate targeting and delivery.
  • Monitor campaign pacing and performance, proactively resolving under-delivery, over-delivery, discrepancies, and targeting issues.
  • QA creative assets and troubleshoot creative rendering, tracking, tags, pixels, HTML5/JavaScript, and VAST/VPAID issues.
  • Serve as the primary ad operations contact for Sales and Account Management, providing campaign updates, reporting, and delivery insights.
  • Partner with Product and Technology to troubleshoot site-level ad issues and improve campaign execution.
  • Lead and manage a team of 1–2 ad traffickers, providing training, quality control, and day-to-day guidance.
  • Establish and improve trafficking workflows to increase operational efficiency and reduce errors.
  • Support Brand Lift Studies and third-party measurement/verification to ensure accurate campaign delivery. 

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in digital ad operations, with strong hands-on campaign trafficking experience.
  •  Advanced experience with Google Ad Manager (GAM) and direct/PMP campaign management.
  •  Strong understanding of campaign setup, targeting, creative QA, pacing, optimization, and reporting.
  •  Technical troubleshooting skills across HTML5, JavaScript, VAST/VPAID, tracking pixels, and third-party tags.
  •  Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving ability.
  •  Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  •  Experience managing or mentoring junior ad operations professionals. 
  •  Experience managing ad operations for digital publishers or news media
  •  Experience with PMP and PG(Programmatic Guaranteed) deals.
  •  Experience with social media and newsletter advertising operations.
  •  Experience with third-party verification and measurement platforms such as DoubleVerify, IAS, MOAT, and DISQO.
  •  Familiarity with first-party data and identity solutions, including UID2 and other identity frameworks. 

 

Base Salary range: $135,000 - $145,000 commensurate with experience
