About the Role

NexGen Steel is looking for an experienced Cold-Formed Steel (CFS) Framer to serve as our national field expert for installation support, crew training, and post-sale customer support.

NexGen Steel designs, engineers, and manufactures precision cold-formed steel framing systems for projects across the United States. We don't just want to deliver a framing package—we want to make sure the crews receiving it know how to install it safely, efficiently, and correctly.

That's where you come in.

You'll travel to NexGen projects nationwide, work directly with framing crews during installation, troubleshoot field challenges, and teach crews how to successfully install the NexGen system. You'll also lead our hands-on Certified Framer Training Program and help develop a nationwide network of qualified NexGen installers.

This is not a desk job or classroom-only training position. You should be an experienced CFS framer who is comfortable working alongside a crew, solving problems in the field, and teaching others how to do the job right.

What You'll Do

National Field & Installation Support

• Travel to active NexGen Steel projects throughout the U.S. to provide hands-on installation support.
• Work alongside framing crews during initial installation, including staging, bracing, standing, connecting, fastening, and sequencing CFS framing components.
• Help crews understand NexGen framing packages, plans, connections, fasteners, tolerances, and installation requirements.
• Establish an efficient installation sequence so crews can continue working successfully after you leave.
• Troubleshoot field installation problems and help crews identify practical solutions.
• Coach lead framers and crew members in real time when installation methods or quality standards need correction.
• Serve as a knowledgeable field resource for customers, General Contractors, superintendents, and framing crews.
• Help resolve installation and post-sale concerns before they become larger project or customer-service issues.
• Document recurring field challenges and communicate feedback to NexGen's Production, Engineering, Project Management, and Operations teams.
• Capture photos and video from projects to help build NexGen's installation and training resources.
• Help ensure installations meet NexGen quality expectations and are ready for inspection.

Certified Framer Training

• Lead NexGen Steel's hands-on Certified Framer Training Program, primarily at our Pearl River, Louisiana facility.
• Train framing crews on CFS fundamentals, NexGen installation methods, sequencing, tools, crew responsibilities, quality standards, and jobsite best practices.
• Provide hands-on instruction in measuring, staging, fastening, bracing, assembling, and inspecting CFS framing.
• Evaluate participants' installation skills and readiness to earn NexGen Certified Framer credentials.
• Continuously improve training based on lessons learned from actual projects.
• Help develop additional trainers as NexGen's Certified Framer network expands nationwide.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of professional framing experience, including significant cold-formed steel/light-gauge steel framing experience.
• Experience leading or supervising framing crews.
• Strong knowledge of CFS installation methods, connections, fastening, bracing, sequencing, and quality standards.
• Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, shop drawings, and framing plans.
• Ability to identify installation or connection problems before they become inspection issues.
• Strong hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to take a crew that is new to the NexGen system and get them working safely and productively.
• Comfortable teaching and mentoring framers with different levels of experience.
• Strong communication and customer-service skills.
• Professional and confident working with General Contractors, superintendents, customers, inspectors, and field crews.
• Willing and able to travel approximately 50–75% nationwide, including occasional short-notice travel based on project needs.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet domestic air-travel identification requirements.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of commercial framing work, including working at heights, lifting materials and tools, and spending full days on active jobsites.
• Ability to meet customer and General Contractor requirements for access to commercial jobsites.

Please note: This position requires substantial hands-on CFS framing experience. Candidates whose framing experience is exclusively wood framing may not have the technical background required for this role.

Strongly Preferred

• CFS installer, AISI, SFIA, or similar industry training/certification.
• OSHA 30 certification.
• Experience with multi-family, hospitality, commercial, or large-scale CFS projects.
• Previous experience training or mentoring framing crews.
• Experience troubleshooting CFS installations in the field.
• Experience working directly with General Contractors and construction superintendents.

Travel & Work Environment

This is a national travel position requiring approximately 50–75% travel.

You may spend several days or weeks supporting active projects and then return to Pearl River for Certified Framer training sessions. The schedule will vary based on project needs and may include early jobsite starts, changing travel schedules, and occasional urgent trips when a customer or framing crew needs additional support.

Candidates located near Pearl River, New Orleans, or the Gulf Coast are preferred because of the training responsibilities associated with our Pearl River facility. Candidates elsewhere in the U.S. may also be considered if they are comfortable with extensive national travel.

Compensation & Benefits

• $38–$42/hour, based on CFS framing, crew leadership, and training experience
• Full-time, W-2, nonexempt position
• Overtime eligible
