Pharmacy Technician

Assists Pharmacist with filling prescriptions accurately along with controlling inventory and expenses

• → Assists Pharmacist in filling prescriptions
• →Receives and stores incoming supplies
• →Counts stock and enters data in computer to maintain inventory records
• →Bills insurances, understands Medicare
• →Translates prescription into the computer system for pharmacist approval
• →Inputs prescription orders accurately and in a timely manner according to established departmental guidelines
• →Assists in completing and updating medication profiles for patients
• →Maintains complete and accurate dispensing or other required records of activity
• →Contacts physician offices for refills of continued prescriptions where permitted by state Pharmacy regulations.
• →Builds and maintains positive relationships with customers including physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and vendors
• →Complies with all HIPPA laws and regulations
• →Keeps up to date with new medications and prescription changes
• →Is working towards or holds a pharmacy technician certification
• →Other duties as assigned

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
• or one to three months related experience and/or training;
• or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. 
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

• Basic math concepts (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, and fractions)

• Is working towards or holds a pharmacy technician certification
